OPTIMIZING IDENTIFICATION
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
Welcome to the Optimal Identification Project!
This is a self-paced virtual class, including a suite of resources, to allow you to learn about effective gifted identification practices and then design a plan to optimize your own identification system. All modules include video recordings, knowledge checks, and application activities. These materials have been developed by a team of research experts in collaboration with school partners from across the United States. Modules are organized under four broad goals:
Goal 1: Introduce broad gifted education rationale and concepts
Goal 2: Introduce four criteria to evaluate gifted identification systems (Cost, Alignment, Sensitivity, and Access)
Goal 3: Explain the psychometric concepts that need to be understood and applied to identify students
Goal 4: Explain tools to implement to optimize identification
