- Evaluate identification systems according to the alignment component of the CASA criteria.
- Apply the CASA criteria to your own assessment selection and identification process.
- Explain and rationalize the identification criteria used for a particular program or service.
Learning Tasks
- Watch Goal 3 Module 6 Part I Video
- Watch Goal 3 Module 6 Part II Video
- Complete Goal 3 Module 6 Application Activity (recommended)
- Read Goal 3 Module 6 Additional Resources (recommended)
GOAL 3 MODULE 6 PART I
Watch the following video over Assessment Decisions Using CASA Part I.
GOAL 3 MODULE 6 PART II
Watch the following video over Assessment Decisions Using CASA Part II.
Goal 3 Module 6 Application Activity
Consider the assessments used within your own identification process (you can go back to your activities from Goal 2).
Reflect on the following questions:
- What are your services offered? Do the assessments used in your identification system conceptually or empirically align with your services?
- How reliable are the assessments currently used?
- How are criteria combined? Think about interactions among CASA criteria.
- How expensive are your assessments? Do you need all of them to achieve the results intended?
- How do the criteria (and specific cutoffs/norming practices) impact access across a range of demographics?
